Pirate Experience is an immersive action game that opened in Paris after more than a year of development. A team of 2 to 6 players sets off for about an hour of adventure across six themed rooms aboard a recreated pirate ship. It is suitable from age 6.

I was one of the two lead developers on the project. My first assignment was building several of the games installed in the rooms. Each room has its own mechanic, so each is a mini-game to design and balance: speed and coordination on interactive buttons in the hold, observation and logic in the captain's cabin, throwing projectiles at interactive walls during the attack, a floor-is-lava interactive ground in the cave, a rhythm challenge on real drums at the treasure door, and a timed collection run in the treasure room.

My second major area was the connection between the games and the real physical hardware: buttons, interactive walls and floors, drums and sensors. That is the most demanding part of an installation like this, because everything has to stay reliable under continuous operation. The system is fully automated, with no manual reset between sessions.

The whole venue is driven by a centralised system that tracks team progression across the six rooms in real time, with player management (team creation, photo, live scores) and an admin interface letting staff monitor room status and hardware health.
